Respect for human rights

Based on our mission of “Creating the future of medical and healthcare”, Medley develops a wide range of services with the aim of making reasonable medical care a reality for both patients and medical institutions. In addition to respecting the human rights of each individual involved in providing and receiving these services, we as a company take action to promote respect for human rights.

Basic philosophy regarding human rights

Medley strives to maintain a work environment where employees can work safely and with peace of mind and to ensure fair working conditions in line with international human rights standards such as the United Nations’ International Bill of Human Rights * and the basic principles and rights at work of the International Labour Organization (ILO). In addition, Medley conducts its business activities in a manner that respects the human rights of all of the stakeholders in its corporate activities. We will not tolerate discrimination based on ethnicity, nationality, gender, marriage history, presence or absence of children, religious or political beliefs, age, disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other factors and will provide equal opportunities to all people. We will not tolerate forced labor, human trafficking, child labor, harassment or bullying, or unfair treatment of any kind. We comply with laws and regulations and respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.

* This includes the International Bill of Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the two International Covenants on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (Covenant on Social Rights and Covenant on Civil Liberties), and the first and second optional protocols to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Contact hotline

Medley values dialogue with our stakeholders and feels a responsibility to strive to ensure transparency and take responsible actions. We have therefore established a contact hotline for both internal and external stakeholders allowing them to report past, present, or potential future violations of human rights policies.

Internal reporting system

In line with internal reporting regulations, Medley has established an internal reporting system for consultation and reporting of actions in violation of laws, corporate ethics, internal rules and regulations, or human rights, including harassment. Three internal and external contact points have been established for this purpose, including reporting to the compliance department, standing statutory auditors, and an external law firm. Rules regarding the response to such reports have been established to ensure that the privacy of people consulting or reporting via this system is protected and that they do not suffer any disadvantage.

Handling of personal information

To maintain strict control of the personal information of our stakeholders, Medley has established an information security policy and a privacy policy and, in addition to establishing a system for the acquisition of third-party certification and information security management, conducts in-house information security training.
